Is the aktiv brush safe to use during pregnancy and with bleeding gums?

Yes — that is exactly what it is designed for. The ultra-soft DuPont Tynex® conical filaments taper to a fine tip that cleans along inflamed, tender gum lines without adding mechanical trauma, so it suits pregnancy gingivitis and gums that bleed easily.

Will ultra-soft bristles actually clean well enough, or are they too gentle?

The conical DuPont Tynex® shape lets each filament flex into the gum margin and interdental spaces where plaque hides, so cleaning comes from filament geometry and correct technique rather than stiffness. Plaque removal depends far more on reaching the sulcus gently than on hard bristles, which mainly abrade tissue and enamel.

Why is it recommended for people with braces (ortho)?

Fixed orthodontic appliances trap plaque around brackets and wires and irritate the surrounding gums, so a soft, fine-tipped filament is ideal for working around hardware without snagging. The tapered DuPont Tynex® tips slip between bracket and gum where a stiffer brush would skip over.

How should I use it to get the most benefit on tender gums?

Angle the brush about 45° toward the gum line and use small, gentle strokes or circles — let the soft conical tips do the work instead of pressing hard. If your bleeding is from inflammation, gentle daily cleaning typically helps it settle over one to two weeks; bleeding that persists should be checked by your dentist.
